Community Power Delivers DaNi the Surgical Robot for Far North Queensland

Northern Frontier Foundation is proud to be part of a milestone moment for Far North Queensland, with the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation’s (FNQHF) Donate for DaNi campaign officially reaching its $4.3 million fundraising target to deliver DaNi, a state-of-the-art surgical robot, to the region.

This extraordinary achievement belongs to the entire community. Over 19 months, thousands of individuals, families, businesses, and organisations came together with a shared goal: to improve access to advanced surgical care for public patients in Far North Queensland. Through donations, attendance at fundraising events, volunteering time, and championing the cause, the community demonstrated what is possible when people work together.

Northern Frontier Foundation was honoured to contribute $25,000 to this vital campaign and to stand alongside many generous supporters who helped make this outcome a reality. DaNi will allow public patients in FNQ to access advanced robotic surgery closer to home, significantly improving care across the region and reducing the need for travel outside of the Far North.

The Donate for DaNi campaign officially launched on 30 May 2024, however, strong community support had already built momentum well before then. Trinity Advisory Christmas Charity Luncheons held between 2020 and 2023 contributed significantly, meaning the campaign commenced with more than 20 per cent of its target already achieved. Their 2024 luncheon provided another early boost.

Two major fundraising dinners played a significant role in driving the campaign forward: the Starlit Soirée, held on the tarmac at Cairns Airport, followed a year later by the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum dinner. Together, these events contributed greatly to the campaign.

The generosity of major donors such as Kenfrost Homes and the Chapman Foundation also proved pivotal as well as community-driven initiatives, including the BDO Arrow Experience, Coral Expeditions Art Union, and the Nu Nu Restaurant Melbourne Cup Lunch, collectively raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over a handful of years.

Seasonal appeals, raffles, matched giving campaigns, and union support further boosted the fundraising.

Northern Frontier Foundation is proud to be listed among a group of donors who collectively contributed, alongside individuals, families, and organisations with a long-standing commitment to improving health outcomes in the region.

The campaign reached its final milestone through the sixth annual Trinity Advisory Christmas Charity Luncheon, which raised $500,000 and pushed the appeal beyond its $4.3 million target. Additional funds raised will now be directed to supporting paediatrics, extending the campaign’s impact even further.

Northern Frontier Foundation congratulates everyone involved in the Donate for DaNi campaign. Great things can be accomplished when a community comes together with a shared vision for the benefit of the region.

Since 2020, Northern Frontier Foundation has donated in excess of $170,000 to the FNQHF.
